NTC Vancouver

Witnessing the Stars and Stripes win the World Cup wasn’t the only dream that came true this summer, I was also able to attend my first live NTC class! The Sunday before the World Cup Final I was perusing Twitter when I came across this tweet:
To say I was excited would be an understatement! Since Toronto is the only true Nike Store in Canada, awesome Nike experiences like this only come around with events like the World Cup! The day of the World Cup final Nike hosted two NTC workouts in The Nike Underground, one at 6am and one at 8:30. I tried to get into the 8:30am class but naturally it filled up first. Even though a 6am class meant waking up at 4:30 to drive the hour into the city, I wasn’t about to complain or not go!
After waiting out side of The Nike Underground for a few minutes we were ushered inside…

After giving us a few moments to take some photos, the Nike crew continuing ushering us passed the pitch into a locker room where we each found a locker with our name on it…
IMG_2347…full of Nike goodies: a limited edition World Cup inspired sports bra, a tank, leggings, a water bottle, a tote, a towel, socks, and a pair of Nikes! What! How amazing is Nike…a free work plus a brand new outfit!!! #NikefortheWin

As soon as we were all changed into a new gear (and had taken a few photos), we were directed out to the pitch to start our workout. The workout was led by Toronto Master Trainer, Eva Redpath, and Chicago Master Trainer, Emily Hutchins. Canadian snowboarder, Spencer O’Brean was also there to help lead the sweat session! Carli Lloyd’s NTC was the inspiration for the workout (who knew what would happen in a just a few hours…maybe doing her workout before the game was good luck:).

To top it off, Nike also sent us a link to all of the photos taken during the workout by their professional photographers! Nike, thanks for such an awesome experience! All the wait (and the painfully early morning) was definitely worth it! With events like this it is easy to feel Nike’s passion for people, especially for women!
Nike, you are welcome back in Vancouver anytime!

P.S. Sorry for the major delay in writing this post. I actually was planning on posting it the week after the workout but I got a concussion and couldn’t get on the computer for a few weeks!

{Sweat} What’s in My Gym Bag…

Guess who joined a gym yesterday…this girl! For the past two years I have been a workout-at-home kinda gal. I didn’t want to shell the money when I had good thing going working out at home + running outside. But recently I realized that I get a discounted student rate with my student ID + if I go 120+ times in a year our health insurance nearly helps cover the entire bill. Woo Hoo! Now I can swim, skate, attend fitness classes, and have access to equipment and machines whenever I want (well between the hours of 5:30am – midnight).

Even though I ran this morning with Marie, I wanted to give the gym a test run this evening. After a full day of grad work, football, and red carpets I decided to relax on the elliptical while Kyle played drop-in basketball. Once we got there I realized that I was quite unprepared. I came without a bag or money for a locker so I ended up throwing my stuff on the ground and lugging it around while checked the facility out. I definitely felt out-of-place and it made me miss our days in China when I was working out at a fitness center on a regular basis. My bag was always packed and ready to taken to the gym. Anyways, my inconvenience at the gym gave me motivation for tonight’s post, a reminder of what I need to pack in my gym bag…

Day 200!!!

Day 200

Day 200! 200 consecutive days of getting my sweat on. What an amazing journey it has been, so far I have ran 534 miles, set a half marathon PR, completed 63 NTC /ZWOW workouts, and done more Tara Stiles yoga videos than I can remember. Coming up next, lululemon SeaWheeze + Nike Women’s Marathon.

The big 2-0-0. Originally I have big plans for day 200, you know, run 200 meter intervals, do 200 squats/lunges/push ups/burpees, or ride for 200 minutes (ok maybe not a realistic option). Well none of those things happened because sometimes it is more important to just relax and enjoy summer vacation. And that’s how day 200 became a beach day. It was wonderful!

With all the water, sun, and napping, I did not even get my sweat on until a post dinner walk down to the creek. Here’s what went down after that…

Daily Sweat! NTC + Yoga

NTC‘s Razor Sharp

i think froggers are my new favorite exercise:)

I am seriously in love with NTC’s workouts! They are so well done.  Each workout is a fantastic combination of exercises.  The lady narrator (not sure what to call her…hehe) offers excellent commentary & tips!!  Nike has truly engineered a simple way to perform an outstanding workout!

My goal this week was to do yoga each morning before I start my day.  However, Wednesdays are special, especially every fourth Hump Day because I am the lucky lady who gets to be in charge of hot lunch at our school.  This means that instead of getting to sleep in until 7:30-8:00am (and show up to school around noon), I had to wake up early and go to school with Kyle.   Anyways, all of this rambling was really just to say that I did not do yoga this morning.  However, I did it tonight.

Daily Sweat! “Be Explosive”

Be Explosive

This was not my favorite NTC workout.  I felt that the intervals were too short making it difficult to transition to the next workout and still have time to complete a high number of reps. As you can see my max heart rate was not quite as high as I normal aim to reach.
